Harry Davis Auger
Enfield, N.H. — Harry Davis Auger, 87, died Friday, August 30, 2013 at Westboro House in West Lebanon, N.H. after a long siege with dementia. He was born in Lebanon, N.H. on January 3, 1926 to Paul & Jessie (Davis) Auger and grew up there. Harry graduated from Lebanon High School in 1943. From a young age Harry loved airplanes and during his high school years he spent as much time as he could at the White River Airport coaxing pilots to take him for a spin. After he graduated from high school Harry joined the Navy and became a pilot. After coming home Harry bought an old farm house on Hardy Hill in Lebanon on what is now the Blueberry Hill residential area. He renovated the house, built a barn and ran a dairy farm for many years, specializing in Ayer Shires. At the same time Harry was a rural mailman in Lebanon, making many friends on his route. Harry married Helen Tobin Hall on August 21, 1963 and they continued to live at the farm for a few years before moving to her house, the oldest house in Enfield in the village of Lockehaven. Harry did much renovation to this house, built another barn and workshop. This barn was built with space to build a plane, but he never got to that. His love for flying never waned and he flew out of Lebanon for pleasure for many years. Harry was active in many organizations in Enfield including the Historical Society, Fifty Plus and ZBA.
Harry is survived by his stepdaughter Cheryl Gerding (Jim) and stepson Keith Hall; step grandchildren, Kathy Decato, Jimmy Gerding & Phillip Gerding; four step great grandchildren and cousin Sally Cross (Hank).
At Harry request there will be no funeral services, In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Enfield Historical Society, P.O. Box 612, Enfield 03748. Ricker Funeral Homes & Crematory of Lebanon assisted the family.
