Charlotte (Barnes) Davidson

New London, NH — Charlotte (Barnes) Davidson, 98, of Lyon Brook, died Monday, August 19, 2013 at the New London Hospital.

Charlotte was born in Oak Park, IL on April 21, 1915 the daughter of Charles and Dellora (Sims) Barnes.

Charlotte spent her early years and attended school in Oak Park until 1930 when the family moved to Montclair, N.J. Her father was an engineer and was transferred to the N.Y. area.

Charlotte graduated from Montclair High School where she met John Davidson; they were married in September of 1938. She furthered her education and graduated from Lasell College in Newton, Mass.

Charlotte studied piano and violin and became very accomplished in both instruments performing many recitals.

Charlotte was a member of The First Baptist Church of New London. She loved knitting for family members and charity. Charlotte enjoyed flowers and was active in the New London Garden Club. She had a passion for reading and doing word and jigsaw puzzles.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John, in 2000 and two sisters, Doris and Elaine. Members of her family surviving include a son and his wife, Ralph and Nancy Davidson of New London, N.H.; two daughters, Joan D. LaMonica of Harleysville, Pa. and Doris Anne Davidson of White River Junction, Vt.; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren; Karen Davidson, Jill and her husband, Calvin Kuiken and their children, Madeline, Brett and Kelly; Laurie and her husband, John Derr and their children, Brady and Joshua; and Lindsay LaMonica.

A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 12 noon in the Lyon Brook sunroom at Lyon Brook, 332 Parkside Road, New London. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 2209, New London, N.H. 03257.
