Rita T. Butcher
Dorchester, N.H. — Rita T. Butcher, 87, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Wheelock Terrace in Hanover, N.H.
She was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Somersworth N.H., daughter of Raphael and Elianna (Mailloux) Dufault. She attended and graduated from Ursuline Convent School in Sherbrook Quebec, Canada. In 1945, she met Frederick “Butch” Butcher in Virginia and they married in November of that year. As a military family, they traveled the world together before finally settling down in Dorchester. There, she belonged to the Grange and was active in the community.
She will be remembered for her passionate love of music and song; her skill at arts and crafts, and the best apple crumble pie and many other family favorites.
Rita was predeceased by her husband, Butch, whom she rejoined on his birthday; and her sister, Elaine Hubbard. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Paul Butcher, of Canaan; Rick and Jocara Butcher, of Largo, Fla., Jim and Kathy Butcher, of Newport, Audrey and Larry Carr, of Lebanon, and Beverly and Mark Lancaster, of Etna; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Rita’s family sincerely thanks all of the caregivers at Wheelock Terrace for all the kindness and love they provided her in the three years she called it home.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Sunday, August 11, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held in the Valley Cemetery on Mascoma St. Ext. in Lebanon on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 1 p.m. Messages of sympathy for the family can be shared at www.rickerfuneralhome.com.
