Karen A. Woodward

Windsor, Vt. — Karen A. Woodward, 45, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Aug. 1, 2013, in the emergency room at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor. She was born Nov. 1, 1967, on Staten Island, in New York City. Her family moved to Windsor where she attended school and graduated from Windsor High School Class of 1986. Karen then attended Keene State College in Keene, N.H. She started her working career at Split Ball Bearing in Lebanon where she met Richard R. Woodward II. They were married July 23, 1988, in Windsor. Karen was currently working as a bank teller for Mascoma Savings Bank where she has worked for many years. Currently she was at the Maple Street Branch in White River Jct., Vt. but had previously worked at the branches in Hartland, Windsor and on Sykes Avenue in White River Jct.

She was an active volunteer with the Friends of Windsor Library where she donated countless hours doing their bookwork and helping with their finances.

Karen loved spending time with her family and her dogs. She enjoyed riding her four-wheeler, reading, working in her small gardens around home, and coffee. Another of her favorite activities was mowing her lawn. She also loved being with Rich camping, fishing and kayaking on Kennedy Pond in Windsor.

She is survived by her husband, Richard R. Woodward II of Windsor; her son, Hudson Thomas Woodward of Windsor; her daughter, Brittany M. Woodward of Windsor; her two brothers, Thomas R. Sims of Charlestown, N.H. and Steven E. Sims of Gum Spring, Va.; three sisters, Linda McGuire of Lempster, N.H., Rosann Laliberte of Windsor, April J. Sykes of Brownsville, Vt.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening, Aug. 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home by Kennedy Pond in Windsor. A private committal service will be held in the Ascutney Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
