Romeo Joseph Russell

Lebanon, N.H. — Romeo Joseph Russell, 95, a lifelong resident passed away in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. He was born on Sept. 29, 1917, in Lebanon to the late Arthur & Aquline (Thibodeau) Russell. He graduated from Sacred Heart School and later married Nellie Dexter on May 25, 1940. Romeo was employed by the Mascoma Woolen Mills for 12 years and later by the Lebanon High School where he was in charge of bus transportation, security and worked as a custodian, all totaling 56 years of service. He also served 40 years with the Lebanon Fire Department retiring as a Lieutenant and held various other jobs. Romeo was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and a 50 year honorary member of the Hartford Elks and enjoyed volunteering at the Lebanon Senior Center. Romeo was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed traveling with his wife.

Romeo is survived by his wife of 73 years, Nellie Russell of Lebanon; a close nephew, Paul Hamel and his wife, Dottie of Enfield, N.H.; many other nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Monday, July 15, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery.
