Viola Annie Walker
St. Cloud, Fla. — Viola Walker of St. Cloud, formerly of Stockbridge, Vt., died Friday, July 5, 2013, surrounded by her family at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon N.H.
Viola was born on April 16, 1929, in Dalton, N.H. the daughter of Thomas and Sirena (Wilkin) Matthew. The family moved to Canada where she resided until age 14 when she moved to Bethel, Vt. to live with her sister and worked at the Hotel Emory. While living in Bethel she met her future husband, Earl Walker.
They were married in July of 1952 at her parent’s home in Canada. The couple resided in Stockbridge for many years. Viola worked at GW Plastics in Bethel until she retired.
They relocated to Florida in 1989 for their golden years. Viola enjoyed traveling to Vermont every summer to visit with friends and family. Hobbies included daily walks, bingo, knitting, crocheting, playing cards with friends as well as being an active participant in the lives of her grandchildren
She is survived by her husband of 61 years; her three children, Marilyn Pratt of Bethel, Matthew and Colleen Walker of Fargo, N.D., and Janice and Vincent Kirsch of Kissimmee, Fla.; six grandchildren, Christopher, Melissa, Sirena, Thomas, Steven and Samantha; two great grandchildren, Skyler and Carter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 10 at Fairview Cemetery in Bethel at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Miller Methodist Church PO Box 187 Bethel, VT 05032.
