Laura H. Bedi
Springfield, Vt. — Laura H. Bedi, 99, died Thursday morning, July 4, 2013, at Springfield Health & Rehab. Center in Springfield, Vt. She was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Utica, N.Y. the daughter of Costanti and Caroline ( Naruc ) Hayna. She attended schools in Weathersfield, Vt.
On June 26, 1937, Laura married Victor Bedi in Springfield. He predeceased her in March 1979.
She was employed at a shoe factory in Newport, N.H., woolen mills in Ludlow, Vt., Whitney Blake in Bellows Falls, Vt., Pratt & Whitney in E. Hartford, Conn., General Electric in Burlington, Britts Dept. Store in Springfield, as Manager of the fabric Dept., and as a cook at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springfield for many years.
Mrs. Bedi was a member of St. Mary’s Church, a member and past president of the St. Mary’s Altar Society, a member of the St. Mary’s choir for many years, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years.
She resided in Springfield most of her life. She also lived in Orford, N.H. for a few years and in Edgewater, Fla. for a brief time before moving back to the Springfield area.
She is survived by her daughter, Victoria Bedi of North Springfield, Vt.; three sisters, Frances Sloan, of Springfield, Pauline Kelly of Perkinsville, Vt. and Victoria Lockwood of Springfield; also by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Josephine Stryhas, and Nellie Grochowick, and by one brother Steve Hayna.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springfield. Reverend Peter Williams pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Springfield.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
