Clarence Andrews III

Dorchester, N.H. — Butch Andrews (Clarence Henry III), 68, of died on Thursday, June  27, 2013, at his home, lovingly cared for by his family, after a two-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Milford, Conn., the son of C. Henry and Thelma (Ryea) Andrews, Butch grew up in Orford, N.H., graduating from Orford High School, Class of 1962. He was an six-year member of the Vermont National Guard’s Armor Division in Bradford. He worked for Paul Saladino at his Mobil service station until 1969 when he left to begin his life’s career in the electrical power industry. He began as a lineman for Granite State Electric in Salem, N.H. In 1979, he moved his family to Dorchester, N.H. and commuted to Concord Electric Company for five years until beginning employment at New Hampshire Electric Cooperative in Plymouth where he advanced to supervisor of contract crews for all NHEC service areas throughout the state.  Butch was a conscientious and diligent worker and had a serious commitment to “restoring the power back to the people”.

A true Yankee, Butch believed in putting in a hard day’s work, often going above and beyond the standards; “saving for a rainy day”-it’s not what you make, it’s what you save”; and making do with what you have. He fulfilled a long-time dream of having a small farm when moving to Dorchester. He loved tending to his animals, renovating his home, working outside, cutting firewood and “creating lawns”. He was an accomplished mechanic and vintage car enthusiast and enjoyed cruising in his red ‘55 T-Bird. Deer hunting was another of his passions, particularly with his great buddy Irving Kimball, a co-worker from Salem and cohort in many an adventurous escapade. Butch’s family and friends have been working feverishly to complete a hunting camp that was started last fall.  In recent years he and his wife enjoyed spending some of the winter months at their home in Rotonda West, Fla.

Butch was predeceased by his parents; Henry in 2011 and Thelma in 2008.

A loving and dedicated family man, Butch was a husband and best friend to Lucille for 42 years. He was a proud dad to his three children: Tim (Clarence Henry 1V) and wife, Angela, of Loudon, Jessica Deans and husband, Jamie, of Greenland, and Jeremy, of Raleigh, N.C. He was an adoring Poppa to Riley, 11, Caden, 10, Kate, 8, and the twins Ellie and Searra, 6; a sister, Beverly Potry (Arthur) of Orford; two foster sisters, Georgette Underhill (Eric) of Piermont and Penny Hughes; and a niece and several nephews.

It was his wish that he be honored in a private service with immediate family

Memorial gifts may be given in his name to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of VT and NH: PO Box 976, White River Jct., VT 05001
