Rev. James Fischmann
Claremont, N.H. — Rev. James Fischmann, 78, Claremont, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 28, 2013. James was the son of the late Harry and Irene (Hedges) Fischmann, born August 2, 1934, in Lakewood, Ohio.
He graduated from Kenmore High, Akron, Ohio and Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy, Mass. with a bachelor of arts in history and philosophy and bachelor of theology. James was ordained by the Church of the Nazarene and served as pastor in Jackman, Maine; Newport, Vt.; and Woodsville and Claremont, N.H. He was a supervisor for the State of N.H. Welfare Department. He was most recently a chaplain for Mt. Ascutney Nursing Home and leader of the Godsmen vocal group.
He loved his books and classical music. Jim was always willing to lend a hand and his humor to any and all. He was a devoted husband, father, chef, ventriloquist, grammar corrector, storyteller and comedian. He never changed jokes, just crowds!
James (Papa) is survived by his wife, Patricia, whom he married July 16, 1960; sons, Michael Fischmann and wife Lorna, of Wingdale, N.Y.; David Fischmann and his beloved Katherine Brown, of Newfane, Vt.; and daughter, Elizabeth Tibbals of Claremont; grandchildren, Megan and Martin Fischmann, Bryan, Emily, James and Amandaline Tibbals, Jason and wife, Noriko, Wheeler; brothers, Richard and William Fischmann, and sisters, Janice Beem, and Linda Ernst. He was predeceased by his sister, Susan Towsley.
Friends are invited to call at Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont on Wednesday, April 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a Celebration of Life will be held at Grace River, 56 Main Street, Claremont, on Thursday, April 4 at 11 a.m. Pastors George Hemway and Scott Kearns will officiate.
