Arden “Bart” Barton, Jr.
Quechee, Vt. — Mr. Arden “Bart” Barton, Jr., age 79, of Willard Road, Quechee, Vt. and formerly of Main Street, Hope Valley, R.I., died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at his home in Vermont.
He was the husband of the late Joyce E. (Murphy) Barton
Born Oct. 19, 1934, in Rutland, Vt. a son of the late Elmer A. and Inis V. (Hudson) Barton.
A man who never said a bad word about anyone and always looked for the good in a person. He took great pride in his home was keen for anything history, a phenomenal story teller, drawing up blueprints on graph paper, nature and animals. He was a member of the Quechee Condo Association, former Sr. Vice Commander of Gordon Greene Post 27, former member of the Jaycees he also loved fishing and golf.
Bart worked for the United Nuclear Corporation as an Industrial Health and Safety Specialist for 33 years retiring in 1993, upon his retirement he worked for Construction Safety Services Inc., in West Springfield, Mass.
Bart graduated from Hartford (Vt.) High School Class of 1954. He also attended Lyndon College in Lyndonville, Vt.
He served in the US Army from 1957-1963.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Barton of Hope Valley, R.I.; and a daughter, Betsy Alger of Charlestown, R.I.; granddaughters, Ashley Alger of Wakefield, Nicole Alger of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Morgan Alger of Charlestown; a grandson, Jeremy Barton of Westerly; and a sister, Lorinda Wells of White River Jct.
Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother John Barton
Funeral Services will be held in the S.R. Avery Funeral Home 3A Bank Street, Hope Valley, R.I. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at 10 a.m.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fairview Avenue, Hope Valley.
Visiting hours Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
