Caroline Amanda Champagne-Laware
Lake Placid, Fla. — Caroline Amanda Champagne-Laware, 71, passed away Wednesday morning, March 6, 2013, after a brief illness in Lake Placid.
She was born on May 10, 1941, the daughter of Margret and Philip Champagne.
Caroline is the sister of Lorraine Champagne Gonyea who resides in Claremont.
She was preceded by her sister, Veronica and her two brothers, Robert and Philip.
Caroline was the wife of Robert S. Laware who passed away in 1987.
She worked in Newport at Sturm Ruger in the 1970s and 1980s. She was one of the first women to work on the plant floor as a machine operator.
Caroline moved to South Florida in 1985.
She loved the warm South Florida weather, her gardens, tropical plants and fishing with Robert. She was active in the Church and in local community organizations which included the Elks Club and the Red Hat Ladies.
Caroline helped with fund raisers to raise money for cancer research and volunteered in a local hospital. She was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor, friend or stranger in need. She always saw the good in people.
The light of her life are her two sons, Kevin Laware and his fiancée, Gisele Martell of Claremont and Christos Laware of South Florida.
Caroline also has two grandchildren, Daniel and Tonya and a new great grandson Dylan and several nieces & nephews; Debbie, Michael, Paul and Jeffrey. All of whom she loved and who loved her. She will be missed by her family and friends. Heaven got a new Angel!
Caroline will be laid to rest with the love of her life, Robert on May 10, Mother’s Day weekend and her birthday. She would have been 73. Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Claremont on Saturday, May 10 at 9 a.m.
She will be laid to rest in Valley Cemetery, Lebanon, N.H. at 11 a.m. alongside her husband, Robert S. Laware.
A reception and celebration of her life and birthday will be held with friends and family at Kevin and Gisele’s home.
