Leon P. Tessier
Springfield, Vt. — Leon P. Tessier, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening, March 17, 2014, at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Vt. He was born July 23, 1932, in St. Albans, Vt. the son of Leon A. and Florence ( Joyal ) Tessier. He graduated from Brigham Academy in Bakersfield, Vt. in 1951, and attended the University of Vermont for one year and left school to serve in the United States Army During the Korean War from 1952 to 1955, after his discharge he returned to the University of Vermont and graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
On Nov. 30, 1963, He married Eleanor Wilson in Craftsbury, Vt.
Mr. Tessier was employed as a Civil Engineer with the State of Vermont Agency of Transportation for over 37 years retiring in 1996.
Mr. and Mrs. Tessier made their home in Bradford, Vt. for many years, and for the past seven years have resided in Springfield.
He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, road trips, cars, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Springfield; two sons, Michael P. Tessier of Bradford, Leon James Tessier and his wife, Loretta of Charlestown, N.H.; two daughters, Sherry Sykes and her husband, Richard of Hartland, and Lynn Boudreau and her husband, Michael of Springfield, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Casey, Minner, Kyle and Jessica Sykes, Melanie, Joseph and Rachel Boudreau and Trevor Tessier.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springfield, Vt. Reverend Peter Williams pastor will officiate. Friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Spring at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Springfield.
