Rita V. George
Rockland, Mass. — Rita V. George, 92, died Monday, March 3, 2104, surrounded by her loving family. Born Sept. 2, 1921, in Quincy, Mass., she was the fifth of 12 children of Angelina (Gaudiano) and Giuseppe Baldassini.
She was the mother of seven children, six of whom survive her: Ralph F. George of Mass., John George of N.C., Kristine Lapierre of Mass., Nancy Parkerson of Wash., and Marianne Green of Mass. She is also survived locally by daughter, Joanne and husband, Steve Collins, PO Box 585, in Wilder. Her beloved daughter Susan George predeceased her in 1975 at the age of 21. She was also predeceased by her husband, Ralph S. George in 1979.
Mrs. George is also survived by five of her nine siblings who lived past childhood: Joseph Baldassini, Philip Baldassini, Rosalie Francis, Angela Mosesso, and Genevieve Quigley, all of Mass. Siblings who predeceased her include Frank Baldassini, Yolande Potts, Theresa Dracoules, and Lucy Leonard, all of MA.
12 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a great, great grandchild also survive her. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rita was loved and respected by family, friends, and colleagues. She was known as the best mother-in-law ever.
A funeral was held at Holy Family Church in Rockland on March 10, 2014, with burial immediately following at Holy Family Cemetery.
It was Rita’s wish that memorial donations be made to American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., Boston, MA 02210.
