Robert “Bob” A. Evans Jr.

Enfield, N.H. — Robert “Bob” A. Evans Jr., 83, passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at the Lebanon Center Genesis. He was born in Cornish, N.H., Aug. 31, 1930, to the late Robert A. Evans Sr. and Annie Evans Eckerman (Chandler).

Bob and his family lived in Cornish for a while as a child before moving to Enfield Center where he attended schools and graduated from Enfield High School, class of 1948. Following graduation Bob attended Keene State College for two years before marrying his wife Arlene Evans (Wheeler) and starting their family. Bob worked for many different businesses throughout his career including Baltic Mill, Enfield Drycleaners, and First National Grocery, before starting as a route salesman at Tip Top Bakery in 1955 where he worked his way up to Sales Manager. When the bakery closed in 1979 he went to work for Bond Optics as a machinist until retiring in 1992. In retirement, Bob and Arlene moved to Arizona for twenty years before returning to Enfield in 2013.

Along with his love for working outdoors, Bob enjoyed playing golf and horseshoes. He was a member of the Hartford Elks, and a diehard Red Sox and Patriots fan.

Bob is predeceased by his sister Marion Porter and his father Robert A. Evans Sr.

Bob is survived by his mother, Annie Eckerman of Newport, N.H.; his wife Arlene Evans (Wheeler) of Enfield; his children Nancy Forsell (Karl) of Amherst, N.H., Debra Mayer (Mike) of North Bennington, Vt., Gary Evans (Danita) of Keene, N.H., Christine Evans (Peter) of Enfield, Daryl Evans (Miriam) of Peoria, Ariz., Marlene Carmen (Mike) Sun City, Ariz.; his brothers Frederick Evans (Madeline) of Grafton, N.H., Richard Evans (Marjorie) of Niceville, Fla.; and his sister, Linda Brown of Exeter, N.H.; as well as 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial Service will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Community Lutheran Church in Enfield. Arrangements are under the direction of Ricker Funeral Homes and Crematory of Lebanon and Enfield.
