James W. “Jim” Palmer

Windsor, Vt. — James W. “Jim” Palmer, 47, a former resident of Windsor passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2014, in Nashville, Tenn. following a long struggle with multiple sclerosis.

Jim was born Jan. 11, 1967, in Claremont, N.H. the son of Wesley R. and Marciel L. (Miller) Palmer. He received his schooling in Windsor, graduated from Windsor High School in 1985 and then attended Vermont Technical College in Randolph. He was employed at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor for several years until the plant closed in 1987, when he then transferred to the Goodyear Plant in Union City, Tenn.

Jim enjoyed sports, hunting, and boating. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Survivors include the love and joy of his life, his son, Devin James Palmer of Tennessee. Jim was the beloved brother of Scott Palmer and his girlfriend, Laura Kirby of Burlington, Vt., Patrick Palmer and his wife, Lisa of Windsor, Michael Palmer of Portland, Maine, Kathy Parker and her husband, Len of Windsor, Paula Melendy and her husband, Carl of Grantham, N.H. and Joseph Palmer of Windsor. Survivors also include four nephews, Ryan, Daniel, Morgan and Brendan and fives nieces, Jessica, Lauren, Meredith, Casey and Amber.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family. Private committal services will be held in the spring in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Windsor.
