3 Upper Valley Towns Awarded Vtrans Grants
VTrans has awarded over $2 million in grants for communities to build sidewalks, bike lanes and multi-use paths, according to a news release from the organization.
Hartford, Woodstock and Springfield will receive three of the 14 grants. Hartford will receive $450,000 for improvements for bike and pedestrian improvement on Sykes Mountain Ave. Woodstock will receive $75,000 to improve the South Street pedestrian island and crossing. Springfield will receive $30,000 for a scooping study of the North Springfield shared-use path.
“There is much work that remains to be done, but it’s exciting to see this movement in the right direction,” said Nancy Schulz, executive director of the Vermont Bicycle and Pedestrian Coalition.
