Letter: Outrageous Court Decision
To the Editor:
My response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision — expanding aggregate contributions of wealthy donors to political committees and candidates — was one largely of shame. Chief Justice Roberts wrote, “Congress may not ... restrict the political participation of some in order to enhance the relative importance of others.” What the court has done, it seems to me, is make it even harder for “others” (most people) to be heard over “some” (the very rich minority). It’s a shameless money-is-power grab that makes our highest court the voice of plutocracy — our highest court! What does that decision make our country?
