Windsor Woman Killed in Collision

Claremont — Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred shortly after midnight yesterday morning and left a Windsor woman dead.

A pick-up truck operated by Luke Garlinger, 29, of Mansfield, Mass., was traveling east on Main Street when it “veered into the opposite lane and collided with a Pontiac minivan” being driven by 42-year-old Shellie Blaisdell , according to a news release from the Claremont Police Department.

Blaisdell was transported to Valley Regional Hospital, where she died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision, the release said. A 13-year-old male passenger in the minivan also was transported to Valley Regional Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries, according to the release.

Garlinger, who was transported to Valley Regional Hospital and later to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center via air transport, was in stable condition yesterday, according to a hospital supervisor at DHMC.

The accident remains under investigation, according to police. No charges have been filed in the case. The news release made no mention of speed or alcohol as potential factors in the crash.

The relationship between Blaisdell and the passenger was not disclosed.

A phone number listed under someone with Blasidell’s name in North Springfield was disconnected.

A message left for woman identified on social networking website as Luke Garlinger’s wife was not returned yesterday.

The accident occurred on Main Street, also know as Routes 12/103, west of the Tractor Supply Store, where the road follows a bend in Sugar River and the speed limit is 35 mph. Routes 12/103 is the connector for Claremont and Interstate 91 in Vermont.
