Maryland Fugitive Arrested in Windsor
Windsor — A federal fugitive from Maryland who was twice profiled on the television show America’s Most Wanted was arrested in Windsor on Thursday, authorities said.
Robert William Mulkern, 48, of Hagerstown, Md., was charged in 2010 for six alleged sex offenses and 149 counts of child pornography by Maryland State Police, authorities said.
Mulkern was arrested without incident, Deputy U.S. Marshal John Curtis said in an interview. Mulkern had “associates” in Windsor, Curtis said.
Curtis declined to provide additional information surrounding Mulkern’s capture, or how long he had been in Windsor.
In Windsor Superior Court yesterday, Mulkern waived extradition and was slated to return to Maryland.
During their investigation, police seized two computers and a digital camera found at Mulken’s former home that police said contained images of him and other people engaged in sex acts with a minor.
Mulkern was profiled on the television show as recently as June, authorities said.
The television show described Mulkern as a New England sports fan, and listed Vermont as one of his potential locations.
Windsor Police Chief Stephen Soares could not be reached for comment yesterday.
