Anne Marie McCann
Claremont, N.H. — Anne Marie McCann, 70, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at her home in Claremont. She was born April 7,1943, in Lebanon, N.H. the daughter of Frank and Gilberte (Boisvert) Maville. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1961. She was a member of the LHS marching band as head majorette. Anne proudly led the band while they performed in President Kennedy’s inaugural parade in Washington, D.C.
Her love of music started at a young age singing and dancing in talent shows, playing the piano and being cast as Moonbean McSwine in Lil’ Abner performed at Dartmouth College. She had a soprano voice of an angel singing Ave Maria at her cousin Louise’s wedding. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to participate and embrace music.
Anne had a strong work ethic and loved working with numbers. She held various office positions over the years at Dartmouth National Bank, Berkshire Life Insurance, Jenks Tool, Co., Jones and Lambson, Hanover Bank and Trust, Twin State Fuels, Quick-N-Go, Ultra Precision. When her children were young she operated a preschool/daycare at her home.
Her lifelong friend and cousin “Bunny” Dodge invited her to attend her birthday party where she met her soul mate Patrick McCann. Since that weekend they never left each other’s side. They were married in June 1995.
Anne loved driving trips with Pat that included finding interesting places to have lunch. They also traveled to Jamaica several times and New Mexico to attend the International Balloon Festival. She enjoyed camping and watching the Patriots.
She had a great sense of humor. She loved spending time with her children and especially the grandchildren telling stories and making them laugh.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Joseph Maville and Francis Maville, husbands Harold “Butch” Streeter, Jr. and Allen Jenks.
She is survived by her loving husband, Patrick McCann of Claremont; three daughters, Kathryn Page, her husband Jeffrey, Jacquelyn Griep and Charlene Dana; seven grandchildren, Corey Roberts, Justin Page, Jacob Page, Laurel Dana, John Griep, Joshua Griep, Aubrey LaFlamme, all of Windsor, Vt.; three step-children, Stephen McCann, his wife, Kimberly of Candia, Joseph McCann of Acworth, Janice McCann-Hartley of Portsmouth; five step-grandchildren, Michael McCann, Chesapeake, Va., Sean McCann and Benjamin McCann of Candia, Nicholas Hartley and Taylor Hartley of Middleboro, Mass.; and two step-great-grandchildren, Khloey McCann and Haley McCann of Chesapeake, Va. She is also survived by her brother, James Maville of Newbury, Vt. as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of life and calling hours will be held Sunday, Jan. 5 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Stringer Funeral Homes, Inc. and Crematorium, 146 Broad St., Claremont.
