Board Seeks To Purchase Ski Resort

Brownsville — The Selectboard is asking residents to approve the purchase of 470 acres of the former Ascutney Mountain Resort ski area and other resort assets to protect the property from development, expand the town’s recreational trail system and reverse the decline in property values that followed the closing of the resort. The Selectboard believes the proposed $600,000 purchase is an opportunity to reverse the town’s financial misfortunes by transforming West Windsor from a ski resort town to one with diverse recreational opportunities, including mountain biking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding and hiking.
