Wanted Thetford Man Found in Bedroom Closet

— A man who was wanted on several outstanding warrants hid in a bedroom closet in his mom’s house before surrendering to Thetford police this week, police said.

Alexander Mamaev, 27, was wanted on three arrests warrants for various charges, including two counts of driving under the influence, drug possession, and giving false information to a police officer when police attempted to arrest him on Wednesday night, Thetford police said.

Police went to his mom’s home on Barker Road in Post Mills and saw him inside. When police knocked on the door, Mamaev ran from the room and hid inside the residence, police said.

Police secured the home while the waited to obtain a search warrant. Three hours later, Mamaev’s mother, Olga Mamaeva, came home and allowed police to enter.

They found Mamaev hiding in an upstairs bedroom closet, and arrested him.
