Fort at No. 4 Seeks Helpers For Annual Spring Cleanup

Charlestown — The Fort at No. 4 is looking for volunteers to help with spring cleaning, April 27 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

During the annual workday, crews put the buildings and grounds in order before the Fort opens for the season. This year’s opening date is May 10.

“Helpers usually sweep out buildings, take out cobwebs, put some of our displays back in place and clean up fallen branches near the museum buildings,” Director Wendy Baker said in an email.

Lunch, rakes and cleaning items will be provided, but volunteers should bring gloves.

“Dressing for whatever Mother Nature has in store is a must,” and the buildings will be cold, Baker said.
