Tunbridge To Keep Ambulance

Tunbridge — Voters sided with Chelsea-based First Branch Ambulance Wednesday night, rejecting a proposal for a new shared ambulance service with Royalton and Sharon that would take over the North Tunbridge coverage area. The proposal was rejected in a paper ballot, 120-74, at the special Town Meeting at Tunbridge Central School. During roughly 40 minutes of discussion following a half-hour presentation, those who spoke in favor of sticking with First Branch expressed skepticism at the proposed deal while praising First Branch responders’ relationship with North Tunbridge. “We need services like that, we need caring people,” village resident Clara Hutchins said. “Let’s not mess with that.” …
