VTC Basketball Sweeps Openers

— Three players hit for double figures as the Vermont Technical College men’s basketball team opened its season yesterday with an easy 98-34 win over Hampshire College.

Freshman Kyle Kissenberth led the Green Knights with 15 points, senior Alex Tyrrell added 14 and senior Josh Lindsey finished with 10.

Kissenberth and Lindsey topped the VTC scoresheet with eight rebounds each, and Tyrrell contributed four assists.

VTC (1-0 league and overall) visits Fisher College on Wednesday.

Women’s Basketball: VTC 77, Hampshire 33

Randolph Center — Vermont natives Kelly Vellek and Paige Wells both had big games as the Green Knights (1-0 overall and league) also cruised in their season opener.

Vellek, of Burlington, had a team high 23 points, while Wells, of Orleans, had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Ama Baker also threw in a double-double of 15 points and 14 boards for VTC, which also travels to Fisher College on Wednesday.
