Letter: Lebanon’s Holiday Celebration

To the Editor:

Please join the Lebanon Recreation and Parks Department on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. for our annual holiday celebration at City Hall and Colburn Park. A featured performance by the Upper Valley Community Band at 2:30 p.m. will be in City Hall, and the local Girl Scout troop will sing from 3:15 to 3:45. Refreshments, horse-drawn wagon rides, arts and crafts, and photos with Santa will be among the activities offered.

The third annual silent auction will take place during the celebration, and all proceeds will benefit the Lebanon Recreation and Parks Department’s Scholarship Fund. Featured items include event tickets, gift certificates, autographed items and get-aways — all in time to get your holiday shopping done and benefit your local community.

The Marine Corps League Toys for Tots program will also be at the event, accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys. All toys will go to Upper Valley kids, from infants to 18 years old. The local Boy Scout troop will be selling trees in Colburn Park during the event. The holiday celebration is free.

After or before the celebration, take in a performance of Clara’s Dream by the City Center Ballet, a work described as “a magical journey through The Nutcracker’s enchanted winter wonderland.” Tickets are available at lebanonoperahouse.org or by calling 603-448-0400. After the show, visit the open house at AVA Gallery and Art Center from 11 to 5 for its open-studio family drop-in program, snow globe extravaganza, open artist studios and holiday salon art show. For more information, call the gallery at 603-448-3117 or e-mail info@avagallery.org.
