Letter: ‘Sylvia’ Back at Shaker Bridge
To the Editor:
One of the funniest and most enjoyable shows I’ve seen in a long time was when I went to see Sylvia at Shaker Bridge Theatre in Enfield a few years ago. The story of a stray dog brought home by a dog-crazy husband to an unenthusiastic wife, it has heartwarming moments and funny moments and downright split-your-sides, laugh-with-your-mouth-hanging-open moments. It sold out nearly every night.
Imagine my delight, then, when I saw that Bill Coons has decided to bring the show back with the same top-notch local actors for another three-week run! I just had to write to share the news. Shaker Bridge is a small theater that is a gem in the crown of New England theaters. Mr. Coons is doing plays you just can’t see anywhere else. If you haven’t discovered this small, innovative, and completely professional theater, let me encourage you to go see Sylvia and see if you don’t agree with me.
It opens Friday, Nov. 30, and runs for three weekends. I’m guessing it will be advisable to get reservations (www.shakerbridgetheatre.org). I hope you’ll come to love this show and this theater as I do. Support local arts!
