Carl Robert Van de Bogart

Leesburg, Fla. — Carl Robert Van de Bogart, 87, of Leesburg, formerly of West Lebanon, N.H., passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014, after a period of failing health. The son of Lena Katharine Brunette and Roy Edward Van de Bogart, Carl graduated from Concord High School in 1945.

After graduating from Plymouth State College in 1950, he served in the Navy during WWII. He attended the University of New Hampshire, Boston University and University of Connecticut, graduating with a Master’s in Educational Administration. Carl, beloved teacher, principal and funny friend to many, retired from education in 1987. He was a positive force in the lives of all he met.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Bossard Handwerk; and his five children, Katrina Rhodes of Barrington, N.H., Evie Abrams of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Julie Van de Bogart of Claremont, N.H., David & Kathy Van de Bogart of Canto, Ohio, and Robin and TJ Uroza of Riverside, Calif.; seven grandchildren; his sister, Amy Ayre of Concord, N.H.; and three stepchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ethel Louise Thompson in 2000.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Lebanon, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his name to the General Scholarship Fund of Lebanon School District, SAU 88, 20 Seminary Hill, West Lebanon, NH 03784.
