Letter: Why So Shocked?
To the Editor:
Sen. Diane Feinstein has now led the charge against the allegedly abusive CIA. She is reportedly shocked — shocked! — that a government agency could dare to interfere in the work of her Senate Intelligence Committee.
Where was the courageous senator last year, when genuinely shocked Americans spoke out against the abuses of the National Security Agency? Sen. Feinstein refused our entreaties to restrain the agency, which, after all, was merely violating the rights of ordinary Americans. Now that Senate aristocrats have come into the sights of government spies, Feinstein feigns outrage at the abuse of government power.
Her hypocritical actions are yet another reason for real Democrats to stay away from the polls or even, as a last resort, to vote for Republicans.
