Shirley Elaine Webster
Brattleboro, Vt. — Shirley Elaine Webster, 85, died Tuesday evening Nov. 19, 2013, at Thompson House Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in Hanover, N.H. on Jan. 27, 1928, daughter of Esther and Louis Ackerman being the 8th child. She was a resident of Brattleboro for many years, an avid gardener, faithful, devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose life centered around family. She had many interests which included doing pastels, reading, bird watching and a member of the Vernon Union Church.
In January of 1950, she was married to Walter Charles Webster who predeceased her in August of 1995. She leaves two daughters, Diane Girroir and husband Dennis of Guilford, Michele Webster of Brattleboro; one son, Walter Webster, Jr. and wife, Shiela of Guilford; three brothers, Glen Ackerman and wife, Nettie of Piermont, N.H., Leeds Ackerman and partner in North Haverhill, N.H. and Lloyd Ackerman and wife, Edith of Fairlee; and one sister-in-law, Patricia Ackerman; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; grandnieces; grandnephews; and friends.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Ranson and Calvin Ackerman and three sisters, Lois, Marge and Virginia Ackerman.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Vernon Union Church with Rev. Jeffrey Tibbetts, pastor, officiating. A reception will follow the services in the church fellowship hall. There will be no calling hours.

Graveside committal services and interment will take place in Vermont Veterans Memorial cemetery, Randolph at a later date.
