Marion T. Baribeau
Wilder, Vt. — Marion T. Baribeau, 92, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at her home in Wilder.
She was born May 29, 1922 in Bradford, Vt. the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Pinkham) Tierney. She graduated from Kimball Union Academy Class of 1940. She went to work for a time at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Windsor before joining the US Marine Corps in 1943. She served her country during WWII in Mojave, Calif. and was honorably discharged in 1945. Upon her return to the Upper Valley she returned to Goodyear. She was married to Gordon J. Baribeau in 1951, they lived in Wilder and she worked for a time as a waitress. She later took a position at the Veterans Affair Medical Center in White River Junction, Vt. where she stayed until retiring in 1985.
Marion was a member of the American Legion Post #26 White River Junction. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, was an avid quilter and a true fan of the Red Sox. She loved doing anything that was in the outdoors including fishing or tanning.
She is predeceased by her husband, Gordon; brothers, Edward Tierney, Robert Tierney, James Tierney and William Tierney; sisters, Louise Spaulding, Katherine Levey, Shirley Leonard, Barbara Wall and Pauline Monette.
She is survived by two sons, Byron Baribeau and companion Martha Cain of Sharon, Vt. and Jeffrey Baribeau and wife Jeannine of Newbury, Vt.; four granddaughters, Leah, Hannah, Jessica and Ashley; and a sister, Ruth Stone of Charlestown, N.H.
