Letter: Two Reasons to Elect Sanders
To the Editor:
Among the many reasons Sen. Bernie Sanders should be elected president of the United States, two stand out. First, we need to escape the increasingly corrupt stranglehold of our political parties. Second, we should avoid the Clinton and Bush dynasties given that Hillary and Jeb are the likely candidates (the ones with the most PAC money behind them). When John Adams’ son John Quincy Adams became president, our nation had 5 million residents (and only half of them — the men) were eligible to vote. Today we have 360 million people, of which approximately 250 million are eligible to vote. Surely there are more worthy candidates without reverting to the “royalty” we fought against for our independence.
