Hanover — Joanna Whitcomb, of Hanover, director of campus planning at Dartmouth College, has joined the Hanover Conservancy board of directors.

In her work at Dartmouth, Whitcomb is responsible for overseeing and implementing the campus master plan, including space planning, landscape design and sustainability strategies.

She works on feasibility studies for major renovation and new construction projects and planning for the college’s residential and commercial portfolios and “town-gown interface,” the conservancy said in a news release last week.

She holds a master’s degree in resource administration and management from University of New Hampshire and a bachelor’s degree in physical geography and environmental science from McGill University.

A certified planner, Whitcomb is a member of the American Planning Association and the Society of College and University Planners. Her professional focus has been on sustainable development and resource protection.
