Hanover, N.H. — Marjorie Gatchell, 79, died on Friday in Hanover, N.H. after a short illness. She had been a part-time resident at Kendal at Hanover for several years, returning for the spring and summer to Cambridge, Mass. where she spent all of her adult life.
A graduate of Swarthmore College, Marjorie was a beloved member of the faculty at the Shady Hill School, where she trained and nurtured many future teachers, who often also became lifelong friends. Marjorie and her beloved border collie, Cory were members of the Fresh Pond dog walking community for many years.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Bouton of Hilton Head; by seven loving nieces and nephews; and by scores of devoted friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Winifred Martin of Sheffield, Mass. and brother Montgomery Gatchell.
