Joseph W. Miley, Jr.

Grantham, N.H. — Joseph W. Miley, Jr., 83, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, with his loving family and devoted Scotties at his side. He was born on Sept. 23, 1930, in Boston, Mass.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. Miley, Sr. and Marie A. Miley; and by his sister A. Marie Miley.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, June K. Miley; his daughter, Susan K. Miley and her husband, Paul Crescenzo; his son, Mark J. Miley and his wife, Diane (Hoffman); and his sister, Ruth Francis.

Joe proudly served his country in the Navy as a Lieutenant from 1948-1954 and in the Reserve until 1972. He then worked at Aetna Life & Casualty for over 40 years in many varied and interesting positions that culminated as an Assistant Vice President in Field Operations. While at Aetna, he was well respected and made many lifelong friends during those enjoyable years.

He loved traveling the world with his family and in his later years, walking on his favorite beach in Hilton Head, S.C. Joe enjoyed meeting people and was a true gentleman to everyone he came in contact with.

Joe handled everything in life with honor, dignity and outstanding character. He will be dearly missed for he was loved and respected by all who knew him and was an outstanding role model to his children. His generosity and legacy will live on in the people that he touched and the special memories shared by those that loved him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life memorial mass at Sacred Heart Parish (located at 2 Hough Street, Lebanon, N.H. 03766) on June 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. Fr. Raymond Vaillancourt will officiate.
