Beverly Lorraine Pierson

Grafton, N.H. — Beverly Lorraine (Randall) Pierson died peacefully at age 81 on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, with her five daughters by her side after a lengthy struggle with Supranuclear Palsy, a rare Parkinson-related disease. Beverly was born on the first day of spring in 1931, the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Perkins) Randall. Throughout their lives, Beverly remained very close to her brothers and sisters. She especially loved her younger brother, Roger, who was blind since childhood and once saved her from a drowning accident.

In 1950, Beverly married John Ernest Pierson, Jr. and they made their home in Bridgewater, Mass. where they raised seven children. John predeceased her in 2002 after 52 years of marriage. Beverly was a homemaker who rarely worked outside the family home. As a stay-at-home mother, Beverly enjoyed daily activities with her children while they were growing up.

After the children were grown, Beverly and John sold the family home and traveled extensively, visiting many historical and wilderness areas across the United States. They spent considerable time in Santa Barbara, Virginia, and on Florida lakeshores where they made many lifelong friendships. Twice they leisurely drove across the country. A highlight for Beverly was traveling “downeast” to Maine to visit her siblings and their families. During this time, Beverly and John made their home base in a cottage on the banks of Mill Brook in Grafton. Beverly loved wilderness camping, fishing, and spending time walking along the ocean. One of Beverly’s greatest joys in life was spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Beverly is survived by five daughters, Sandi of Orange, N.H., Linda Glynn and her husband, Kevin of Bridgewater, Mass., Debra Clough and her husband, Frank of Grafton, Wanda Ellis and her husband, Lester of Grafton, N.H., and On Shin (Brenda) of Grafton; one son, John of Taunton, Mass. and his former wife, Linda Stringer. Her son, Mark predeceased her in 2007. Her sisters and brothers were Roger Randall, Howard Bell, Hyacinth Hannon, Lenora (Clara) Melberg, and Benjamin Randall; all who predeceased her. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Friends and family are invited to a visitation period at the Prophett Funeral Service, 98 Bedford St. in Bridgewater, Mass. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Scotland Trinitarian Congregational Church, 1000 Pleasant St. in Bridgewater, Mass.

The family offers their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staffs at the former extended care facility at the Alice Peck Day Hospital, Bayada Hospice, and at Genesis Healthcare in Lebanon, N.H.
