Richard J. Alexander
Grafton, N.H. — Richard J. Alexander, 81, of Grafton passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the Hanover Terrace after a period of failing health.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1932, in Claremont, N.H. to Arthur and Helen Alexander. He attended local schools, graduating from Towle High School in 1950.
Richard joined the United States Air Force in 1951, and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1956 after serving a tour in Europe.
After working as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios, he attended the University of New Hampshire from 1958 to 1961.
He held various jobs before being employed by the U.S. Postal Service in North Hampton, N.H. in 1967, and served as a clerk there until 1984.
Richard then moved to the Grafton area and worked for Black Lightning & Colby-Sawyer College before retiring.
He enjoyed shopping for antiques, classical music, being outdoors and spending time with his dogs.
Richard was loved for his warmth, intelligence & sense of humor.
He was predeceased by his parents & siblings, and is survived by his partner, David W. Winter of Grafton.
