Fairlee — The state Department of Labor reached out to management at Britton Lumber Company on Monday to say services are available to aid workers in the event of a layoff at the company, which saw its sawmill in Fairlee destroyed in a fire Saturday night. The four-alarm blaze leveled the sawmill building that employed 20, leaving the owner with the taxing decision of how to proceed.
