Letter: A Musical Sensation

To the Editor:

As a new resident of the Upper Valley, I’ve been availing myself lately of the many cultural opportunities in the area. Recently, I attended the North Country Community Theatre’s 21st Annual Teen Show, Seussical the Musical. I was astounded by the quality of the performance, the vocal range and depth of the singers, and the boundless energy displayed by the entire cast. The principals had me clapping, bouncing and laughing through the entire show, and the supporting cast helped put me right in the thick of the action and remember all the fun I’ve had with Dr. Seuss through the years.

It seems each time I attend a new venue in the region, I enjoy it more and more. The teens gave me an experience to rival any film I’ve recently seen, and gave more life to Seuss’ characters than any animation I have witnessed. I want to thank all of the cast for their hard work; it certainly paid off in an outstanding theatrical presentation. Thanks also to the Lebanon Opera House; director Jarvis Green; assistant director Becky Roberts; choreographer Claire Shillen; conductor Lee Adams; the orchestra; the production staff and the tech crew for their contribution to the success of the performance. I want the cast to know they have affirmed my faith in the quality of character, drive and talent in our teens. I also want everyone who missed the show to know they missed a blockbuster that rivaled anything they could have attended in New York City.
