Boyd “Bo” J. Chesley Jr.

Enfield, N.H. — Boyd “Bo” J. Chesley Jr., 64, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at home with his wife Martha “Queenie” J. (McConnell) and special friend Dan Cornell at his bedside.

Bo was born May 26, 1949, in Hanover, N.H., to Boyd J. & Edith Myrtle (Estes) Chesley Sr., who have both predeceased him. He graduated Lebanon High School, Class of 1967, and attended Vermont Technical College in Randolph, Vt. He worked at School Craft for Phil Pillsbury for several years. He retired from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where he worked 25 years as an HVAC technician. After retiring he enjoyed many afternoons & Saturdays with Harry Osmer, “The Goat”, at the “Shooters Shop”. He was born to two of the Upper Valley’s best fishermen, so fishing became a large part of his life at a very young age. His mother would bring him fishing as a baby and tie a line around his toe so he was ”hooked” on fishing since he was a little boy. He loved to fish Lake Ontario, Winnipesaukee and other area lakes for salmon and trout. He and his special friend Steve Farnsworth and Dan Cornell enjoyed many a fishing trip together. He liked everything to do with speed — cars, boats, motorcycles and snowmobiles. He would race snowmobiles with special friend Gerry Pillsbury, he was awarded Polaris N.H. track champion at one time. He also enjoyed hunting, especially with Gerry and Ro Pillsbury — usually Ro would come home with the biggest deer in deer camp. He was an avid life member of the NRA and believed strongly in the second amendment. He was a member of the Grafton County Fish and Game Association. He was also a member of the Lebanon Lodge of Elks BPOE 2099. He was a big NASCAR race fan, Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver — he would often say Jeff was his son — he rarely missed a race. Bo was a private person, sentiments ran deep, he was honest, quiet mostly but outspoken when he felt the need. He appreciated what he had and enjoyed every day and the special moments with family and friends. He always looked forward to Margo LaHayes peanut brittle, Shirley Rocke’s stuffed cohog clams, Pam Goude’s butterscotch cookies and anything that Irene Ackerson made. If it was a good meal, he would tell his wife it had to have come from one of Irene’s recipes!

He is survived by his wife, Martha, of Enfield; mother in law, Velma McConnell, of Enfield; in laws, Pam & Neil Banker, of W.R.J., Vt., Donna & Robert Penn, of Etna, Jim McConnell, of Enfield; daughter, Tracy McNamara, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; special niece, Kelly Crate; god children, Hannah & Ethan Van Guilder, of Ludlow Vt.; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews & cousins.
