Lois Alma (Parker) Devins

Enfield, N.H. — Lois Alma (Parker) Devins, 91, passed away on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013.

She was born to Ira and Lillian (Davis) Parker on Feb. 7, 1922, in Hanover, N.H. Lois was a wife, mother and (great-great) grandmother. She was multitalented with homemade crafts and a wonderful seamstress. She loved to crochet and was always working on an afghan or doily for someone.

She was liked by all who knew her. She was a member of area clubs/organizations: Emblem, Eagles and American Legion. She bowled in the Upper Valley leagues, enjoyed playing cribbage, bingo and doing cross word puzzles. She would spend hours with her family playing cards and board games. If the television was on then she was watching a golf tournament or Grand Old Opry. She loved to read romance novels.

She worked in a lot of the area businesses including Riverside Grill and Thermal Dynamics, where she retired.

Lois married the love of her life, Kenneth Devins on Sept. 16, 1937. They made their home on Stoney Brook Road now Old Route 10 in Enfield, N.H. They were married 45 years until Ken’s passing on June 5, 1982.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Natalie Parker and Jane Sanborn; three children, Elizabeth (Betty) Descoteau, Kenneth (Bud) Devins, Jr., and Debbee Devins; two grandchildren, Timothy Laware and Dawn Camp.

She is survived by her son, Nelson Devins and wife, Rita of Charleston, W.Va., and daughter, Doreen Tessier and husband, Robert Jr. of Enfield; and two daughters-in-law, Dinah Devins of Virginia Beach, Va. and Mary McGeath of Melbourne, Fla. She is also survived by three sisters, Eunice Rich of Newport, N.H., Barbara (Robert) Cutts of Wallingford, Conn., Joyce Hill of Sunapee, N.H., and one brother, Howard (Marie) Parker of Claremont, N.H.

She was Nana to Thomas Laware, Ryan and Lauren Tessier; and Grandma to Michael Descoteau, Michelle Hochlinski (Jace), April Thompson (Dallas), Shawn Devins, Holly Devins, Crystal (Rob) Zimnick, Amy Hopkins, Peter Cornelious; Great Grandma to Joshua Laware, James Descoteau, Jilan Hocklinski, Krystofer Hochlinski, Sarrah Thompson, Alex Thompson, Kaitlyn Devins, Chelsea Devins, Felicia Day, Ava Simond, Mykaela Simond, Matthew Fungi, Mykel Fungi, Aaron Zimnick, Aiden Zimnick, Samuel Zimnick, Julie St. Francis, Gerrick Hopkins, Tyler St. Lesperance and Tayha St. Lesperance; and Great-great Grandma to Nikolas and Kymberlie Hochlinski. Other family members include nieces, nephews and special friends.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Lois’s Life beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
