Grace Rita (Beliveau) Choquette
Fair Haven, Vt. — Grace Rita (Beliveau) Choquette of 929 River St. in Fair Haven passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at her home in Fair Haven. She was 85.
Born in Lebanon, N.H. on May 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Louis A. and Dorothy Richardson Beliveau. She attended schools in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1947.
Grace married Joseph L. Choquette Jr. on Feb. 22, 1949, at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon. Over the years they made their home in White River Junction, Rutland, East Wallingford and Fair Haven, in Lebanon and Enfield, N.H., in Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y., and most recently in Ocala, Fla. She was a lifelong bookkeeper, secretary and homemaker. Among her places of employment were the Hotel Coolidge, T & L Electric Company, the Valley View Creamery, the Woodstock Inn, Thermal Acoustics, the Fox Run Inn and Resort and Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge in Vermont and the Albany Medical Center. After retirement, Grace and Joe spent summers on Mascoma Lake in Enfield and winters at their home in Ocala. They returned to Vermont in 2012.
She was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and active in church activities throughout her life.
Grace was predeceased by her husband, Joe, and a daughter, Susan C. Kasper of Middletown, Pa. She is survived by her children, Tauna C. and Ronald J. Leathers of Laramie, Wyo.; Joseph L. Choquette III and his fiancé, Tammie S. Paterson of Barre, Vt.; Kathy C. and Michael Stanley of Fair Haven; and son-in-law, Gary E. Kasper of Middletown, Pa. She leaves 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Grace is also survived by her brother, Raymond Beliveau of Phoenix, Ariz.; and sisters-in-law, Beatrice Beliveau of Enfield, N.H. and Judith Beliveau of Dover, N.H.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dr. William Kaliyadan at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Interment at the West Hartford, Vt. Cemetery will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
