Arthur K. Brown

Cornish, N.H. — Arthur K. Brown, 82, of Jackson Road in Cornish died on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H.

He was born in Reading, Vt. on June 15, 1932, the son of Preston K. and Blanche (Rayno) Brown.

Art was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1950 and attended Paul Smith College in New York for forestry. He was also a graduate of the National Hardwood Lumber Association School in Memphis, Tenn.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

As owner of P.K. Brown’s and Sons, Inc., he manufactured and bought lumber for many faithful customers.

He enjoyed wood-turning, golf and his garden. He was a member of the Hampton Club in Saint Simon’s Island, Georgia.

The family includes his wife, Carol J. (Gardner) Brown of Cornish whom he married on Sept. 10, 1960; his brother, William Brown of Claremont; his sister, Madelyn Kinsman of Norwich, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday evening, Aug. 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Burial will be held privately.
