Claremont Accepts Fact Finder’s Report
Claremont — The City Council Wednesday night accepted a fact finder’s report recommending wage increases combined with the sharing of health insurance costs for the city’s firefighters’ union.
The council did not discuss the report before voting 8-0 in favor of it.
“This is a little more balanced and we can live with it,” Finance Director Mary Walter told the council, referring to a fact finder’s report for the police and public works union that was rejected by the council in May.
The union has not voted on the proposal but if it does accept it, the report would become the basis for a new contract. Firefighters have not had a contract since March 2009. —Patrick O’Grady
