Marion Irene Nelson

Claremont, N.H. — Marion Irene Nelson, 76, of Claremont, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 9, 2014.

She was born in Claremont on Aug. 29, 1937, the daughter of the late Everett and Roselba (Dubois) Archibald.

Marion had worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber, where she had met her husband Richard and they were married on April 27, 1968. She had also worked for Kings Department Store and Holson Burnes and had retired in 2003.

The family includes her husband, Richard Nelson of Claremont; five sons, Herbert L. Castellini, Jr. and his wife, Judith of Unity, Jeffrey A. Castellini and his wife, Laura of Enfield Center, Michael J. Nelson and his wife, Dawn of Newport, Matthew J. Nelson of Claremont and Scott R. Nelson of Claremont; two daughters, Wendy C. Moore and her companion, Dale Atwood of Barre, Vt. and Sherri A. Nelson of Claremont; seven grandchildren, Lindsay M. Comora, Laurel M. Castellini, Ian C. Castellini, Christopher L. Moore, Erica L. Moore, Joshua J. Nelson and Zachary T. Nelson; one great-granddaughter, Caitlyn O. Moore; two brothers, Howard Archibald of Newport and Armand Archibald of Enfield; four sisters, Doreen Teachout of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Martha Cooper of Cornish, Roselba Simino of Cornish and Ann Catron of Roanoke, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by one brother, Everett Archibald; two sisters, Dorothy Stammers and Beverly Bennett.

Marion was a compassionate, selfless, strong, but gentle woman. She was an amazing mother who loved to cook, decorate, work in her flower garden and play the slot machines at casinos when on vacation with her daughter. She loved to vacation in Maine and loved lighthouses and the ocean. Her greatest love in life was her children though, and she would do anything for them. She was loved dearly and will be missed greatly.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning, March 15 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Susan Langle, rector of the Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Claremont.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, 5526 West 13400 South #510, Salt Lake City, UT 84096.
