Charlestown, N.H. — Carolyn Stoddard, 79, of Coolidge Road, died at her home Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Carolyn was born in Bellows Falls, Vt. on July 9, 1934, the daughter of Harold and Catherine (O’Connor) McClary. She attended St. Charles School and was a 1953 graduate of Bellows Falls High School. On Dec. 1, 1956, at St. Edmonds of Canterbury Church in Saxtons River, Vt. she married Ralph Stoddard. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and wintering in Florida. She loved caring for her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carolyn was a member of the Bellows Falls Emblem Club #153.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Stoddard of Charlestown; her daughter, Brenda Thompson & husband, Steven of Charlestown; her sons, Steven Stoddard of Manchester, N.H. and Gary Stoddard & wife, Jennie of Charlestown; her brother, Raymond McClary & wife, Sylvia of Keene, N.H.; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Lorraine Alexander, and one great-grandchild.
There will be calling hours 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26 at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vt. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Jan, 27 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Charlestown, NH. Burial will take place at a later date.
