Letter: A Giving Community
A Giving Community
To the Editor:
The annual Community Christmas Dinner held in Bradford was again a huge success. We fed some 200 people at the church, delivered 62 meals to surrounding towns and sent another 50 or more home with those who attended the dinner.
The dining room was beautiful and festive as friends and neighbors shared the meal and conversation with those they had known for years and those they had just met.
The annual event is made possible because of the generosity of area residents and businesses who contribute food, supplies and items to make it all possible. Then there are the large number of volunteers who labor days before, making rolls, preparing turkeys and vegetables, baking pies and setting up the dining hall. On the day of the dinner, others prepare and deliver takeouts, serve the meal and wash the dishes. Then there is the cleanup crew.
We depend on Oxbow High School, Riverbend Career and Technical Center, Orange East Senior Center, and the area churches, whose support is critical to the success of the dinner.
We truly are blessed to live in such giving communities.
Thank you all.
