Concord — Concord police are soliciting information that could help identify a “badly” decomposed body recovered early Tuesday morning in the woods along Route 106, near the entrance to the Walmart access road.

The find was reported to the state police by someone who had been walking in the area, said Concord police Lt. Timothy O’Malley. O’Malley described the area as criss-crossed by footpaths and near some homeless camps.

O’Malley would not specify the physical state of the body, but he said it was decomposed to the point that officials could not determine its gender. Based on a preliminary examination, the person had short dark hair – possibly an overgrown buzz cut – and was wearing dark jeans, a gray T-shirt and an olive-green fleece, O’Malley said.

No cause of death had been determined Tuesday. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Thursday.

The corpse was found about 80 feet from the northbound side of Route 106.
