Police: Man Deied of Natural Causes on Appalachian Trail in N.H.

Warren, n.h. — State police say the death of a hiker along the Appalachian Trail appears to be from natural causes and is not considered suspicious.

Robert Accola, 54, of Raleigh, N.C., was found dead in his tent Monday morning after troopers responded to a call about an unresponsive male on the trail around 8:30 a.m.

Accola’s tent was next to the Jefferson Brook Shelter in Warren.

NH Fish and Game, Grafton County Sheriff’s Office, US Forestry Service and the N.H. Medical Examiner’s Office are assisting the investigation. Anybody with information should contact Trooper Aaron Comeau at 603-846-3333.
