2 Killed in Crash on  Route 101 in Amherst

Amherst, N.H. — Two people were killed when a car collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 101 in Amherst.

Officials aren’t releasing the names of the victims of yesterday morning’s crash until family members are notified.

Fire officials said the driver and passenger of the car were killed as they tried to make a left turn from Schoolhouse Road onto Route 101. A tractor-trailer heading west hit the car in the driver-side door.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Neighbors and police told WMUR-TV that the people in the car were heading on a deep-sea fishing trip with another vehicle they were following.

A portion of Route 101 was closed for several hours yesterday.
